Author

Nella Burgin

Nella Burgin writes fiction for curious young readers — especially the kind who want to know what is behind the factory door and what every machine is actually doing.

About the work

For the reader who asks one more question.

Nella's Kids Consulting Co. series combines fictional stories with detailed manufacturing, STEM, and business problem-solving. The books follow children who first have to understand how a product is made before they can begin to understand the business that makes it.

The first book, Coventry Creamery, takes readers through cheddar and cottage-cheese production at a small Vermont creamery. It is the case that eventually gives Kids Consulting Co. its name.

Why factories?

Because a good factory tour already has a plot: something comes in, it changes, machines do surprising things to it, people make choices, problems appear, and eventually something entirely different comes out the other end. The series is designed to let readers stay for the whole process.
